Ganesha Chaturthi is one
of the festival celebrated by Hindus across the globe as the birthday
of Lord Ganesha, which falls on the fourth day after new moon in the
month of Bhadrapada as per Hindu calendar.

celebrated on Friday, 29 Aug.
Ganesha, the son of Shiva

There are so many stories
upon lord Ganesha’s birth; most prevailing is when Devi Parvati
designed a creature from her body dross and named him Ganesha. She
created him to guard the entrance. When Lord Shiva came and ask him
to go inside to meet Devi Parvati, Ganesha rejected then lord Shiva
got furious and beheaded him. Devi Parvati got dejected by seeing all
this. Then Lord Shiva consoled her and make Ganesha alive and
replaced his head by an elephant's head.
